Overview

Tuophema, 41 km north of Kohima, is a Northern Angami village that opened the Tuophema Tourist Village in 2002 — an award-winning community-run cottage complex often cited by the Ministry of Tourism as a case study in indigenous tourism.[1],[2]

The village is compact, hillside and cool year-round, and hosts small-scale versions of Sekrenyi and the Angami harvest cycle that visitors can attend by prior arrangement.[2]

History

Tuophema is a Northern Angami founder settlement and appears in colonial-era gazetteers of the Naga Hills.[3],[4]
