Cultural & Tribal Tours in Northeast India
Every journey below is an existing Living Roots Expeditions itinerary, built around tribal communities, festival dates and village hospitality across Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya. Permits, transport, homestays and community introductions are arranged on the ground; group sizes stay small so villages are visited as hosts, not as attractions.

Tribes, villages and festivals behind these journeys
Each itinerary is anchored in specific communities — Konyak and Angami in Nagaland, Apatani, Galo, Adi and Nocte in Arunachal Pradesh, Garo in Meghalaya, Mising and Assamese Vaishnavite communities along the Brahmaputra. To read the background before choosing a route, start with the festivals of Northeast India guide or the tribal villages knowledge hub.
Planning a cultural or tribal journey
Most travellers combine one festival with two or three villages and a stretch of Assam. Dates drive everything: Sekrenyi in February, Aoleang and Mopin in April, Moatsu in May, Solung in September, Chalo Loku and Wangala in November, Hornbill in December.
