Day-wise itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Guwahati arrival

    Arrive Assam, transfer to Nameri.

  2. Days 2–3

    Nameri & Dirang

    Nameri wilderness, then drive into the Monpa hills via Bomdila.

  3. Days 4–5

    Tawang

    Sela Pass crossing, Tawang Monastery, Urgelling and the Monpa heartland.

  4. Day 6

    Descend to Bomdila

    Monasteries and monpa villages on the way down.

  5. Days 7–9

    Ziro Valley

    Apatani villages, paddy walks, evening conversations with elders.

  6. Days 10–11

    Daporijo & Aalo

    Subansiri corridor — Tagin and Galo country.

  7. Day 12

    Pasighat

    Adi Minyong villages on the Siang.

  8. Day 13

    Dibrugarh

    Brahmaputra crossing and a tea-garden estate stay.

  9. Days 14–15

    Mon & Longwa

    Konyak Angh's house at Longwa, Shangnyu and surrounding villages.

  10. Days 16–17

    Sivasagar & Majuli

    Ahom heritage, then ferry to Majuli for the sattras.

  11. Days 18–20

    Kaziranga

    Multiple jeep and elephant-back safaris across Kaziranga's ranges.

  12. Day 21

    Guwahati & departure

    Drive back to Guwahati for the homeward flight.

Responsible travel notes

  • Acclimatise gradually before Sela Pass and Tawang (≈3,500 m).
  • Walk monastery circuits clockwise and remove shoes before entering shrines.
  • Do not feed or approach wildlife in Kaziranga and Nameri.
  • Buy directly from weavers, mask-makers and potters where possible.

Frequently asked questions

How high does the trip go?
Sela Pass reaches around 4,170 m; Tawang sits at 3,050 m. Two acclimatisation nights are built in.
Is Tawang accessible year-round?
Best between April and October for clear passes; winter (Nov–Mar) is possible but snow can close Sela.
What permits are required?
Inner Line Permit for Arunachal and Nagaland for Indian citizens; Protected Area Permits for foreign nationals.
